That’s right, it is peak butternut squash season. Here is a review of one of our favorite menu items:
“A lovely butternut squash soup, the Zuppa di Zucca, included a touch of cream that didn’t interfere with the flavor of the roasted squash, along with a touch of heat, small bits of braised escarole that evoked the sweetness and texture of baby spinach and bits of pancetta.”

From Gluten Free in San Antonio:
Luce is one of the best Italian restaurants in San Antonio. They have several dishes that are GF, such as steaks and risotto dishes. They also have GF pasta available even though it is not listed on the menu. I recommend the risotto dishes as well as the caprese salad. Let the server know that you need to eat GF and request that meats are not breaded when you order. They also have creme brulee, gelato, and sorbetto on their dessert menu.

You definitely feel special at this restaurant when the owner greets you immediately at the door. When we asked our waiter for a wine recommendation, he asked a few questions about our taste preferences and brought a couple of wines for us to try which was exciting and fun. No matter what we seem to order when we go to Luce, it is exceptional! Tonight I chose a artichoke chicken dish which was divine, and my husband ordered pork chops. You should have seen the size of the two chops on his plate! I loved the pesto mashers that came with his dish…so unique. The atmosphere is romantic, charming, and quiet despite a full restaurant. I love Luce whether I meet my girl friends for lunch or go on a romantic date with the hubster!
