A taste of the “Old Country” for Easter at Luce this week!

Above: In Italy, Easter is still celebrated with historic processions like the one pictured above in Trapani, Sicily — the Procession of the Holy Mysteries, one of the most historic and most famous. Today, Easter remains one of the most important holidays of the year, a time when the whole nation takes a break and families reunite in their home towns.

“Growing up in New York as an Italian-American family,” recalls Luce’s owner and executive chef Joe Buonincontri, “Easter was always a time when families took time out to get together and to remember the way things were ‘in the Old Country.’”

“At Luce, my Easter menu [see below] is devoted to the Easter dishes of my childhood and memories of family get-togethers when we would reminisce about Italy and what it was like in the ‘old days.’”
